WATERTOWN, Wis.- On a day where the Sabercats gave up no earned runs, the series between MBU and the Rams of North Central University was split. Adam Courtney and Jordan Garrison each pitched stalwart innings on the mound, but at the end of the day the Rams stole a win in the second time around.

The Essentials

How it Happened

  • Game 1
    • MBU 2nd: Micah Burdett got the offense going with a leadoff double, and Matt Rueb promptly hit an RBI single to center to put the Sabercats up (1-0)
    • MBU 3rd: Rueb brought in his second run of the game on an infield single and the Sabercats had an insurance run (2-0)
    • MBU 6th: Adam Courtney produced an energizing at-bat in the sixth by stroking a triple to right-center, and then scoring on a throwing error for a one-hit run (3-0)
    • Adam Courtney proved his all-around usefulness by staying strong on the mound. The Junior earned a shutout in front of an errorless Sabercat defense
  • Game 2
    • MBU 1st: The Sabercats opened the scoring when Elijah May inserted an RBI single to left, but the Sabercats left two runners on in the opening at-bat (1-0)
    • NCU 3rd: The Rams capitalized on a throwing error to post an unearned run in the third- their first of five (1-1)
    • NCU 5th: The Rams answered a two-run Sabercat fourth inning by scoring four runs in the fifth. The Rams did so by making the most of three hits and an MBU error (3-5)
    • Despite generating adequate offense, the Sabercats struggled to push runs across and saw a sweep-able series end in the split
